Press Release: Markija Internship Program to Europe for Indonesian Vocational Students

Markija provides opportunities for Indonesian Polytechnic and Vocational School students to carry out internships in European industries. The purpose of the Markija internship program is to increase the professional knowledge and international expertise of Indonesian vocational students. Markija is a sociopreneurship in the field of education where students who are selected to join the Markija internship program will carry out an internship for 2 years, get European standard benefits and facilities, free of charge. This program is in line with the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) Program, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, so that students will get academic credit while doing Internships in Europe.

On Monday, February 6, 2023 Markija held an event with the theme Markija Internship Program to Europe for Indonesian Vocational Students, located at Century Park Hotel, Jakarta. At this event, Markija was hosted by Dr. Heru Dewanto as Chairman of Markija and Bence Schmatovich as President Director of Markija.

Markija together with its European partner, Prohuman, invited representatives from the Hungarian Samsung industry and also invited the Hungarian Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E Lilla Karsay, the Director of Academic Vocational Higher Education of the Ministry of Research and Technology, Dr. Beny Bandanadjaja, as well as the Directors of Polytechnics and Deans of Vocational Schools in Indonesia.

During 2022, Markija has contracted with various industries in Europe (Hungary, Czech Republic, and Romania) to send more than 1300 internship students, of which more than 600 students have already been dispatched. Markija plays an important role as a door opener between Indonesian vocational students and European Industries.

Dr. Heru Dewanto as Chairman of Markija explained that this internship program will be carried out to various countries.

“This model is good, it will be applied to all polytechnics in Indonesia and will be carried out to all countries. Currently it is still 3 countries – Hungary, Czech Republic, and Romania”

“All industrialized countries will be our target. Because the most basic law of economics is supply and demand. We have a lot of skilled vocational human resources, but not many industries, there are many industries, but few human resources. The internship allowance for vocational students in Europe is of course also higher than in Indonesia”

“This internship program is not subsidized by the government, meaning that it is market driven, and this program benefits all parties involved, be it Industry in Europe, Polytechnics / Vocational Schools, Students, to improve human resources and the economy of the countries involved.”

In addition, Markija’s President Director, Bence Schmatovich also said “Feedback from Industry is very good and demand from European Industry continues to increase. We are working hard to find suitability in new industries by focusing on engineering internships but not closing opportunities for other positions, so that more vocational students can join the Markija Internship Program,” he said.

The same support was conveyed by the Academic Director of Vocational Higher Education of the Ministry of Research and Technology Dr. Benny Bandanadjaja, he said that this program has been running for almost 2 years. “We see this activity is very good for vocational students because they can move in the industrial line. Not to mention they get allowances, transportation and others. As well as all administrative matters have been given permission by the Embassy, the Ministry, and the Hungarian Party there ”

“Hopefully, after graduating they will have more practical experience and more easily get a job. This greatly supports the government program in order to increase the absorption of the vocational workforce with more decent salaries. This good opportunity is facilitated by Markija with better opportunities, especially for polytechnic and vocational school students.”

Not only that, support was also conveyed by the Hungarian Ambassador, H.E Lilla Karsay for Indonesia “The Markija internship program has the full support of the Hungarian government in administration. Please note that visa processing at the Embassy takes quite a long time, but with the collaboration between Markija and the Hungarian Embassy, the visa making period can be shortened.”

The same thing was also expressed by Csongor Juhász Founder and CEO of Prohuman, the largest Human Resource Company in Hungary and Central Europe which played an important role in increasing trust between Vocational Students and industry in Hungary in Markija’s internship program to Europe.

They conveyed why they chose vocational students in Indonesia because the quality of Vocational Education in Indonesia is quite good. They got this information from Markija. Therefore, they open the door for Indonesian vocational students to develop their skills there.

“Industries in Hungary and Central Europe like Indonesian vocational students. Initially they thought the ability of Indonesian vocational students was low, but it turns out they have high skills and are needed in industries such as automotive, manufacturing and the IT / Telecommunications sector, and others.

In addition, he also praised Indonesian vocational students who go there have high motivation to learn new skills and knowledge to develop competence, so it is not always about salary, this is an added value for vocational students in the future to practice it in Indonesia.

The support conveyed by the Academic Director of Vocational Higher Education of the Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia and the Hungarian Ambassador to Indonesia played an important role in encouraging Markija’s collaboration with Indonesian polytechnics and vocational schools through the Markija Internship Program to Europe.

With this event, Markija is expected to open more internship opportunities for vocational students in the European Industry.
